Why us
We work on Viking every day, stock the parts that commonly fail, and name the price before we start.
Bottom freezer units are one of the units we open most. Our techs know the failure patterns before the panel is off.
Dampers, evaporator and condenser fan motors, defrost heaters, inlet valves and gaskets ride with the technician.
The technician diagnoses on site and gives you a firm price. You decide before any work begins.
Parts and labor, in writing. If the same fault comes back inside the window, we return at no charge.
Call before noon and we'll do our best to be there today, weekends included.
A built-in bottom freezer comes out and goes back without marking your cabinetry.

Heavy frost was building in the freezer and the door was not sealing correctly.
The freezer needed defrost-system service and the door gasket had lost its seal.
Defrosted and serviced the freezer section, replaced the affected sensors and restored the door seal.
The appliance was run and checked after the work.

Common faults
A bottom freezer unit cools both compartments from one evaporator behind the freezer drawer and feeds the fresh food side above through an air damper. That single detail explains most of the calls we get on these units.
Cold air reaches the upper compartment through a damper and a fan from the drawer below. The fault is usually that damper, the evaporator fan, or a defrost circuit that stopped clearing ice off the coil.
The drawer rides on rails carrying a custom panel and a full load of frozen food. Worn rollers or a bent rail leave a gap, and the whole cabinet starts frosting.
Defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or a drawer gasket that stopped sealing. Frost on the back wall points at defrost; frost around the opening points at the seal.
Mold heater, ejector motor or fill tube. On built-ins the fill tube frosts over first, and the unit keeps cycling without ever dropping a cube.
A full-width door carrying a custom panel is heavy. The hinge and the closer wear, the door stops pulling shut on its own, and the seal goes with it.
Thermistors and the control board. A shorted sensor reports a temperature the cabinet never reached, and the board runs cooling and defrost off that reading.
On built-ins the condenser sits behind the top grille and packs with dust. A blocked coil or a stopped condenser fan makes the compressor run without ever reaching temperature.
Usually the defrost drain tube frozen at the back of the freezer compartment, or the water line fitting behind the unit. Both look the same from the kitchen floor.

Questions
Answered by our dispatch team.
Both compartments are cooled from one evaporator behind the freezer drawer, and the upper section gets its cold air through a damper and a fan. When the fresh food side alone goes warm, the fault is almost always in that path: the damper, the fan, or ice on the coil because defrost stopped running. It is rarely the compressor.
Frost that returns after a manual defrost points at the defrost circuit: the heater, the thermostat, or the sensor that tells the board when to run it. Frost only around the opening is a different fault, the drawer gasket or rails that stopped pulling it shut.
Yes, including panel-ready doors. The unit is pulled from the cabinetry and reset without marking the millwork, and the panel alignment is set back the way it was.
It depends on the fault and whether the part is on the truck. Dampers, fans, heaters and gaskets are common enough that we carry them. Anything model-specific is ordered against the serial number, and you get the timing in writing with the quote.
We use OEM parts identified by the serial number on your unit. Viking revised components across model years, so the model name alone is not enough to order the right one.
Usually yes on a built-in. A replacement means the cabinetry opening, the panels and the water line all have to work with the new unit, which turns a repair into a kitchen job. If we think yours is past sensible repair, the technician will say so on site.
No. Leave it as it is. If the technician needs the freezer drawer cleared to reach the evaporator, he will say so on site and it takes a few minutes. Only pull the unit out of the cabinetry yourself if you are certain the flooring can take it.
